About Us

Who we are

Tengri Farms is founded on the principles that we do not have to force horses to fit a timeline or agenda. They are allowed to be horses, whether that involves riding activities or not. Tengri Farms Founder Madison DeCook has always believed that riding a horse was a gift that they could offer us, not a condition for being cared for. For over 20 years, she has been taking in unwanted and banged-up horses and giving them the chance to feel their best. Her love for allowing horses to blossom on their own terms led her to working with professional psychotherapists who wanted to integrate horses into their work, but lacked the key ingredient - the horses.

Her horses often stepped up to the plate, volunteering themselves during sessions and allowing their stories to resonate with people who needed healing. However, horse owners and practitioners often run into walls when it comes to utilizing horse centric spaces for private therapy sessions. Thus was born the dream of creating a space for both, utilizing the healing of horses as a way to aid the healing of humans.

About the Farm

The word Tengri comes from ancient central Asian religions (Turkic/Mongolic) and it roughly translates to "Eternal Blue Sky". â€‹â€‹

The farm was originally built as a cattle farm, and run by a veterinarian for over 30 years. They put a lot of time, effort and love into building the yard up to be a safe, useful and sheltered space.

When we first stepped foot on the farm, it was a dreary, snowy day. However, the space was undeniably sacred. We immediately knew it was exactly the right place for our dream to blossom. Once we were able to see it on a clear day, the first thing you see is the vast blue sky. After getting to know the land and what it had to offer, the name and concept of Tengri just fit.  Eagles swoop over the terraced fields on a daily basis, and the energy of the land is easy and bright.

A perfect place for the soul to unfold.
